POV

More About Kesha Monk

Freelance Political VO

Kesha Monk is a native New Yorker who has been fascinated with hearing her voice on recording devices since she was 7 years old.

Kesha’s professional career began as a radio personality in Raleigh, North Carolina. Her talent took her to many cities across the country including major markets such as New York, Los Angeles, Chicago & Boston. Additionally, she was the co-host of a syndicated countdown show with Randy Jackson of American Idol fame. The show ran for 5 years and aired in 50 US cities and internationally in Japan and Kenya. After 20 years in radio, her career path shifted after a devastating cancer diagnosis.

During a chemotherapy break, Kesha decided to enter a contest that was awarding a hefty voiceover contract. Coincidentally, her actual audition was a script that included a role of a cancer patient. Because cancer was her reality, that audition got her in the door of a reputable talent agency and catapulted her into the world of voiceover.

Since then, Kesha’s cancer has returned multiple times – however, her experience has helped to develop a remarkable resilience. Her ability to connect with content and her ability to bring projects to the message being conveyed to the listener has made her a voice talent to be reckoned with. She has recorded projects for global brands such as Mcdonalds, Dreamworks, Busch Gardens, SeaWorld, Coca Cola, Chick Fil A, Dunkin Donuts and more. She has narrated a children’s audiobook and has been the signature voice for a host of corporate and industrial videos. Kesha recently completed her 3rd season as the continuity voice for POV, a weekly documentary series that airs on PBS. She also is the live announcer for the Soul Train Awards which airs on BET, the most prominent television network targeting African American audiences.

Kesha’s voice has extraordinary range and tremendous versatility. Her voice is well suited for projects that require a professional dynamic as well as those that require more of a conversational, genuine and natural read. Her reads are often described as warm, rich, trusting, confident, believable, compelling & inspirational.

Allowing Kesha to voice your project is a breeze; as she takes direction extremely well and can appropriately adjust her performance to your needs.

More About Allegra Verlezza

Political Voiceover Actor

Allegra Verlezza (they/them) is a full-time voiceover artist and actor based in Brooklyn, NY. Their sound sits on the Millennial / Gen Z cusp, making them a go-to voice for clients looking for a vocal vibe that’s chill, conversational, and youthful. Allegra’s versatile voice can also sound warm, sassy, playful, authoritative, knowledgable, wry, upbeat, relatable, and friendly. As a queer, non-binary person, Allegra is proud to be an LGBTQ+ voice actor.

Born in Brooklyn and raised in Shaker Heights, Ohio by a family of modern dancers, Allegra grew up surrounded by creative performance and art as activism. Allegra watched and assisted their parents in their work to make modern dance accessible to people of all abilities, bodies, and minds. This experience instilled in them a passion for using their creative talents and strengths to help others.

It also launched them into theatre and acting since the age of 12. Allegra continues to act in plays and has thoroughly enjoyed exploring the wonderfully weird world of acting in Zoom plays during the pandemic.

Allegra’s drive to advocate for others led them to earn a B.A. in Women & Gender Studies from Hunter College. Sitting in the very classrooms in which Audre Lorde taught motivated Allegra to try and live by her infamous every day: “When I dare to be powerful, to use my strength in the service of my vision, then it becomes less and less important whether I am afraid.”

Throughout and after college, Allegra volunteered and worked for a wide range of nonprofits that center the needs of low-income communities of color and LGBTQ+ folks including The Trevor Project, The Audre Lorde Project, The Center for LGBTQ Studies, The Bronx Defenders, and Green City Force.

Allegra is a Libra, Gryffindor, and their Myers-Briggs personality is the Protagonist (ENFJ) so they’ve got a whole lotta fire in them to fight for what’s right!

Outside of the booth, Allegra enjoys knitting giant comfy things, watching cartoons with LGBTQIA+ rep, playing video games involving quests and minute tasks, finding fun ways to get active and moving, and exploring Brooklyn with their yellow lab Baxter.

More About Ian Fishman

Freelance Political VO

Voice range: 25-40
Voice descriptor nutshell: Optimistic, confident, Millennial next-door-neighbor

Ian Fishman is a full-time, award-winning freelance voice over talent & comedy writer based out of Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Originally from Worcester, Mass., Ian’s story is classic America: on one side, his Jewish great-grandmother emigrated to Brooklyn from Poland in the 20th century; on the other, he traces his lineage back to the Mayflower III. Mix ‘em with a strong dose of unabashedly punk rock drive & enthusiasm, and that’s how you get an “Ian Michael Fishman.”

Inspiring social change [and making people laugh] is what brought Ian on this path in the first place — naturally, his first three paid gigs were for being an extra on Law & Order, touring Appalachian elementary schools in a 2-person educational sketch comedy show about green energy with the National Theatre for Children, and a spoof PSA about Cooties that went viral and was shown on Comedy Central. He’s only looked back when he’s had to write his bio.

Since then, he’s made his name as the voice of your cheerful, confident, progressively happy-go-lucky Millennial next-door-neighbor [how’s that for an accurate run-on descriptor?].

Much like himself, Ian’s voice is classic-yet-current young, Millennial America: naturally mid-range, optimistic, confident and warm, but unafraid to stand up for what he believes in with an authentic, firm and direct sense of purpose. His “attack ad” style comes from a perspective of common sense over mudslinging; his natural empathy shines through when it’s time to “set the record straight” on a candidate or initiative. And thanks to his natural range, he can authentically connect just as easily with elderly voters worried about their grandchildren’s future as he can with first-time voters jumping off the fence.

As a result, Ian’s is the voice that can naturally connect with the widest range of voters.

You’ve heard Ian in one form or another around the world: his work spans the commercial world [TV/radio broadcast & promo, along with Internet pre-roll, streaming radio, and social media campaigns], narration [TV, documentary, medical and corporate], Explainer videos, eLearning, and IVR/On-Hold messaging. Corporate clients include Home Depot, IBM, Visa, 3M, and Medtronic [to name but a few], while non-profit and pet projects include the Boys & Girls Club, Forgotten Harvest, the Spay/Neuter Network, Efficiency Vermont, and the Minneapolis classic, the Heart of the Beast Theatre’s annual May Day Parade.

Outside of his work as one of the co-founders of Blue Wave, he’s also the voice & producer behind High End Voice Over, producing audio & Explainer videos for the legal cannabis industry throughout the U.S. and Canada — as well as one-half of Millennial Voiceover, a project he started alongside Blue Wave Voiceover with our own Maria Pendolino. He’s also the copy editor for the punk rock satire The Hard Times, a joke writer for the gag-gift company Prank-O, a guest director for the National Theatre for Children, and he directed the hit late-night show Late Nights Minneapolis.

He and his wife Abigail, who works in Youth Development Leadership with the national non-profit Playworks, live with their two cats, Gigglepuss and Sassmouth. If you’re ever in the Twin Cities, look them up and come share a homebrewed kölsch or a cup of tea in their lovely garden.

More About Zia Amador

Freelance Political VO

Zia Amador is a professional millennial transgender Latino male voice talent. He speaks English with a neutral North American accent and neutral Latin American Spanish.

Zia started his voiceover career in 2011 at age 15, as the protagonist in a children’s audiobook recorded in both English and Spanish. Since then he has recorded bilingually for Pandora Radio commercials, audio tours for youth for the Smithsonian Institution’s National Museum of African American History, educational narrations for Scholastic, web videos for the Boston Water & Sewer Commission, and medical narrations for animated patient video tutorials, to mention a few.

Since his transition, Zia has voiced young male voiceover roles in educational apps like StudySync and training videos to inform teenagers about sexual harassment. His voice is in a middle register, and he can sound like a young male or a person of indeterminate gender. He responds very well to direction.

Zia is passionate about many things outside the voiceover realm, including music, visual arts, cooking and bicycling. He is currently studying at the Massachusetts College of Art in Boston. Issues of particular importance to him are trans rights, LGBTQ issues, health care access, and the environment.
